Our Story

I was born and bred in Tisbury, Southland. My family came from a sheep farming and contracting business. As a young fellow I was always working on the farm, also loved tinkering and fixing the machinery. Once I left school I received my trade qualifications at Melhops in Invercargill. After several years working overseas as an engineer, I settled back in Invercargill, Southland.

In 2004 Mervs Mechanical LTD was started in an old shed on a bare block of land in Tisbury Southland.

Mervs Mechanical provides high quality innovative mechanical engineering solutions to rural Southland. The team at Mervs pride themselves on products and services that ensure long term sustainable functionality for our customers.

At Mervs we like to take on a challenge and use our engineering skills and experience to go beyond customer expectations, providing high quality and reliable results.
Our business is based on 4 factors Repairs and Maintenance, Machining, Fabrication and Products. We do a lot of repairs and maintenance on farming equipment and there appeared to be a pattern. Farm machinery needed to last longer and need to be more robust, so we started modifying and fabricating our own twist on a simple design.
